Random thoughts on the movie Inception – that awesome mind-F!

This isn’t a movie review. I think everyone knows it’s a good movie already. So if you don’t think so, feel free to skip over this post. =P These are my random thoughts on such a thought-provoking film.

I’ve tried Jamie Oliver’s recipe for Pukkolla and it’s great if 1) you’ve sweet berries available 2) you have enough time to do the grating (apples) and mashing (the bananas are SO much better mashed than sliced). See image below.

My guilty pleasure has always been instant noodles. Yes I know it’s BAD with no nutritional benefits whatsoever hence the word guilty before pleasure =P And my favorite is the Lucky Me Instant Pancit Canton – Chili-mansi flavor. It the perfect blend of spicy and sour calamansi (Calamondin or Citrofortunella microcarpa – it looks like a small lime) flavors.
Read MoreMy new favorite vamp show: Being Human

Thanks to my hubby for finding this show for me! It’s now my favorite vamp show – or to be more accurate my favorite supernatural show. True Blood is always interesting because of the big budget Hollywood effects and sick twists and turns. Vampire Diaries I stopped watching after a few episodes. It was just too teeny-bopper for me and wasn’t something I couldn’t sink my teeth into (no pun intended) because I found the characters just too annoying. I haven’t even tried watching Vampire Knight. But I am loving the British show, Being Human! It’s about 3 supernatural housemates trying to live ”normal” human lives in Bristol. Reasons why I love it:
- Finally a supernatural show with some humor! It’s a drama-comedy. I am always biased towards funny shows and that’s the main reason why I prefer this to True Blood – which is at times too dark for me. There’s perfect integration of blood/gore with wit and humor!
- Cute english accents
- A sexy vampire (Mitchell) who looks even sexier when his eyes turn pure black when he’s “hungry.” Now that’s a look not many can pull-off!
- A cute werewolf (George) who is super dorky, adorable and clumsy. He had me at his first girlish scream =P
- And an even more lovable ghost & cute female lead (Annie) who is much easier on the eyes than Sookie
- The show deals with deeper issues of keeping their humanity despite their “conditions”
- And did I mention that it’s funny?

It took me awhile to find this video! It’s a compilation of images of the team celebrating on the field and having beers in their LOCKER ROOM after they won. Girls enjoy the half-naked pics of Iker Casillas & Sergio Ramos. (Aren’t his massive pits at 1:50?)

Wow you gotta admire Joan Capdevila of La Furia Roja (2010 FIFA World Cup champions), for his lightning quick ability to avoid a kiss with a beauty queen! This is an example for all married men! Now I wonder if it would’ve gone differently if the offer was off-camera? Funny nonetheless!

Poor boys were doing such a good job leading the cheering crowd just a few seconds before the “Splat!” Go to 1:23 if you wanna skip the cheering! Hope they didn’t injure any part of their amazing footballers’ physiques! I’m guessing their prides may be a little bit bruised from that fall though..
Read MoreThoughts & favorite quotes from Eat Pray Love
It took me a long time to finish this book. In fact I stopped reading it while I was halfway through Book 1/Italy/”Say It Like You Eat It” because for some reason it just didn’t call to me. Or perhaps it was too difficult to read because I myself was gaining all that weight but didn’t have the fabulous excuse of an Italian adventure, but rather just the lousy excuse of enjoying being a couch potato after being such a “Type A” personality all my life. Or her agony/suffering/darkness in the beginning may have reminded me of those dark years of my life which, though I have surpassed and has made me into the person I am today, still squeezes my heart in pain & knocks the air out of me whenever I remember how it felt to be in that darkness. But basically I read this book very slow because all throughout I also needed to reflect on my own existential crises.
What made me continue?

TV Shows I’m watching now that it’s the “off-season”
It’s the “off-season” again for television and none of my favorites, like Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives, House, How I Met Your Mother, Cougar Town, Modern Family, Community & 30 Rock, are on. Yes I watch a lot of TV, but I am making up for a lifetime of not watching TV. As a kid, I was only allowed very limited amounts of TV because I had to do a lot of studying. I was very competitive in school and your typical over-achieving dork. So by the time college came and I could have watched as much TV as I wanted, I was no longer interested.
Then along came my husband, who was the ultimate couch potato, was capable of watching TV the entire day and needed the TV on to be able to sleep. He got me hooked! And now that I am a housewife, I am totally catching up on lost time.
Below are the shows I am currently following, in no particular order. Click on the show titles to go to their websites.
Entourage (Sundays in the US)
I’m not sure I like Vince with his short do – he sorta looks like a pixie – but it’s still fun watching the boys livin’ the dream! I liked this particular “review” of Entourage a lot.

True Blood (Sundays in the US)
It’s seriously sick, freaky and takes some getting used to! But after the horribly written first season, season 2 & 3 have improved a lot. I liked this particular “review” of True Blood a lot.

Drop Dead Diva (Sundays in the US)
I am so happy that there’s a TV show wherein the lead is not a size 0! And she’s hot – showing us that a plus-sized woman can still look and feel gorgeous. Also I’m loving the guest appearances of Paula Abdul, Rosie O’Donnell & Liza Minnelli!

Hung (Sundays in the US)
Desperate guy becomes a male prostitute and calls himself a “Happiness Consultant.” Can sometimes be depressing, but how can humorous situations not ensue?
Note: I wrote a follow up post on Hung after a few episode into this season. Read more on the utterly disappointing 2nd seasong of Hung here.

Lie to Me (Mondays in the US)
It sorta reminds me of House, but instead of figuring out sick patients, it’s figuring out a crime. I think if you like House, you’ll like this show.

White Collar (Tuesdays in the US)
Aside from the really good looking leading man? Hmmmmm… Sorry… I seem to have forgotten my train of thought…sigh…

(image: TV Worth Watching)
Royal Pains (Thursdays in the US)
It’s like Grey’s Anatomy, by the beach with a lot less good-looking doctors and spectacularly rich patients. Okay so it’s not like Grey’s at all… But one cute doctor, a lot of sports cars, a personal jet or 2 and the gorgeous setting of The Hamptons’ mansions & beaches are enough for me! Oh and I almost forgot the Ferrari-driving 17-yr-old, who by the way cut his locks short and now looks like a pixie too – a pixie with a strong jawline.

Pretty Little Liars (Thursdays in the US)
It’s like Gossip Girl & Desperate Housewives combined, except without any of the comedy or humor!
(image: Pretty Little Liars/ABC family)
Futurama (Thursdays in the US)
I can’t believe I only discovered this show last week! And it’s been on for 6 seasons! Still catching up, but liking what I’m seeing. How can I not love something by the creators of The Simpsons?

(image: Futurama/Comedy Central)
Sorry I didn’t put any of the scarier shows! I’m such a scaredy-cat that I wont even touch those, for fear of not being able to sleep. Any other good shows I am missing? Would love your recos!
