TRAVEL DIARIES ✈ Neat stuff in our room in Hotel Nikko
Found some really interesting things in our hotel room in Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur that I just wanna share. Some are design inspirations that I want to remember for next time I renovate and one was just cool. Pictures after the jump!
I loved that not only did they have black out curtains and sheers but that the ceiling “rods” were overlapping to ensure that no sunlight peeps in. What a great idea!
When I check the drawers I found that they thoughtfully left a bible and a flashlight. But the coolest part was that when you pull it out it automatically turned on. I find this so cool because if ever there was a black out (God forbid!) all you need to do is pull it out – no need to fumble for the switch of an unfamiliar torch. Also this also saves the hotel money on batteries, because the way it shuts the light is by putting a physical barrier between the batteries and the light so it does not drain the battery while it is not being used. So smart!
Another interior design inspiration is the floating side tables. It not only saves space and makes it easy to clean the floor beneath it but I love that there are not handles. For cabinets & drawers I try avoiding the use of handles because I prefer to make do with unnecessary details (the simpler the better) and also it is safer that way. No handles to get caught in, nothing for future babies to bump their heads on and there is also nothing that needs repair when it is loosened from wear.
