RESTO RAVE ❤ Turkuaz Take 2
The ambassador invited us to dinner at Turquaz to celebrate TD’s birthday (isn’t that the nicest?). It’s one of his favorite restaurants in Jakarta – he and his wife have become friends with the owners because they frequent it quite regularly. After my first visit to Turquaz, I was really excited to try more of the delicious food, enjoy the gorgeous ambiance and finally take good pictures with my DSLR! YAY! (I only took photos with an iPad on my first visit)
A definite highlight of the warm and cozy interiors are these stunning Turkish lamps (or mosaic lamps) right in the middle of the high ceilinged room.
Interiors have clean and simple lines that modern and elegant. Yet they are still able to showcase turkish culture with the details like the photo wall that looks cohesive by using only black and white photos and the same dark teak frame. I could really stare at these beautiful photos all day. What a great idea to reflect Turkish culture in a modern yet almost minimalist way!
Once we arrived, everyone ordered a pot of the warm apple tea. This is the only drink you have to order when you eat in Turkuaz. It is seriously good – and it’s great with all the food! My mouth is watering already…
Everything was heavenly! Since they don’t serve wine, we brought a few bottles of this delicious Portuguese red. They charge corkage of IDR 80,000 per bottle.
What a fun night among colleagues and friends. The chef and his fiancé Yanti were also so charming and hospitable. It was like being welcomed into their own home. No wonder the restaurant was packed with expats. Not only is the food and ambiance amazing, but it has that warm feeling of home!
Turkuaz also has cooking lessons. I hope to be able to attend it sometime!
