Trailing spouse blog
I started this blog to help me cope with moving abroad – leaving friends, family and a marketing career I was passionate about – to follow my husbands dreams. It is my way of remembering useful information and eye-opening experiences along the way. It has grown into a passion for sharing practical discoveries, tips and tricks on how to bloom wherever you are planted and way to connect with fellow urban nomads – such as expats, diplomats, and the well-travelled.
I continue to write about my personal experiences, home interiors, style and design inspirations, fabulous finds and practical tips as we move and travel around the world. As with everything in life, there are ups and downs and I try to stay true to my self and be honest about my feelings and reviews.
The Diplomat’s Wife
A funny thing happened when TD decided to become a diplomat. He had a different profession when we met and little did I know that he would make a decision that would change our lives forever. I had no idea what diplo life would be like, but I dove in headfirst anyway. Expat life changes you indelibly. We’ve experienced, grown and learned so much in the few years that we’ve been posted overseas.
I used to be an over-worked marketing executive during the week and beach partying surfer on weekends. As a trailing spouse to a diplomat, I learned so many skills that never interested me before – like cooking, baking, DIY, how to love dogs, appreciation of good food and flowers. I’ve learned everyday survival phrases in different languages and have endless tricks on how to flourish in this crazy expat life without losing it!
