DIPLOdog ☆ PAWDAY 2013

DIPLOdog ☆ PAWDAY 2013

We finally made it to PAWDAY 2013, which is organized by Jakarta Animal Aid Network or JAAN every year to raise funds for JAAN’s animal aid activities. We dropped by at the tail end because DiploDog is not really socialized yet and we were also tired from Part 1 of our Drink-Our-Booze party the night before. We came at the perfect time, there were still some dogs, but not too much to overwhelm DiploDog. Pictures of the beautiful park and super cute dogs that we saw after the jump!

Diplo Dog Emergency

Diplo Dog Emergency

It’s difficult to write about this but I feel I should, because it might benefit some other dog owners in Jakarta, especially new expats.  DiploDog had an emergency last March 3. TD and I were enjoying a quiet Sunday afternoon, watching TV in the living room when the guard rang our doorbell. We couldn’t really understand what he said with our limited Bahasa. All we understood was the word “anjing” (dog) so we knew it was related to DiploDog. TD put on his sneakers and grabbed his phone and followed the guard out. Initially we thought that maybe security wasn’t letting him back in the apartment after his walk because of a complaint. But I was scared that he might have been run over by a car so I started searching for any info on veterinary clinics that would be open on a Sunday. After a quick search there was no information to be had. I quickly got changed, grabbed my phone, phone chargers, all the money I could find, credit cards, and a tumbler of water. Then my phone rang. The maid was crying on the other line and she told me that TD was asking me to get dressed and come down. I said I was ready and would meet them at the lobby. At this point I still didn’t know what was going on but my heart was racing and beating so hard.. I knew it wasn’t good. *NOTE: Warning some images after the jump are graphic and unpleasant.

DIPLOdog ☆ My new Azkals Jersey

DIPLOdog ☆ My new Azkals Jersey

Hi everyone. Sorry if I haven’t been posting much lately. I’ve been busy with a “consultancy” job lately and two weeks in the Philippines so I’ve had to put the blogging, DiploDesserts (I take orders for banana bread and tiramisu cupcakes), and DiploShop on hiatus. It’s only until the 23rd of July. So thank you for your patience and I’ll be on my normal schedule of at least 3 posts a week after then. For now I hope you enjoy these pictures of DiploDog with his new Azkals Jersey (the Azkals are the Philippine Men’s National Football team) that was a gift from Sir J and Ma’am T. Thank you so much for the thoughtful gift! Photos of DiploDog posing with his Azkals jersey after the jump!

DIPLO DIY ❃ DiploDog’s Doggie Bag Liner

DIPLO DIY ❃ DiploDog’s Doggie Bag Liner

While we were on holiday, they tried to kick DiploDog out of the building. It’s quite unfair because the policy is “no PETS allowed.” Those who have cats though freely flaunt them – I’ve even seen one tenant go up and down the elevator with his cat on his shoulder. So it is really only with dogs that the policy is implemented because Muslim tenants complain about them. To work around this we settled on an arrangement to cover up DiploDog completely every time he is brought down for a walk. This seems fair to me since, it is showing respect for our Muslim neighbors (Dog saliva is considered “haram” or unclean) so I immediately set out to make a bag liner for DiploDog’s bag made out of cheap canvas cloth from Majestic Market

One day our maid comes to me and sadly tells me that Diplo Dog’s soft bag (the one made of cloth and foam) was stolen. She laid it down on the park bench while walking around the park thinking that no one would steal it because it was in her line of vision and she was familiar with the neighbors. It was stolen from right under her nose!

DiploDog recovered + New Do & New Duds

DiploDog recovered + New Do & New Duds

DiploDog was recently sick. It was a hard few weeks but with constant care and a lot of pain on DiploDog’s end, he has finally recovered. I promise to be a better mommy and always make sure that his sac is expressed all the time. I brought him to the Vet to ensure that he was healing properly and when the vet said he was fully healed I got him a haircut, some treats and a new top to celebrate! =D

Poor DiploDog and his cone

Poor DiploDog and his cone

DiploDog is sick. If you don’t have a dog, I suggest you skip this post because I am mainly posting this for the information of dog owners out there who like us may not have known certain things about our pets. I hope you find this post informative. But for those who don’t have pets you might find the details too yucky. ;P

Diplo Dog got lost for 3 HOURS today!!!

Diplo Dog got lost for 3 HOURS today!!!

Pomeranian Diplo Dog

This is one of my favorite pics of Diplo Dog (taken by TD) in his classic "Good Boy" stance - which he does whenever you have food or he wants to be petted or let up on the bed =P Sigh. How can anyone resist that???

This is the story, as told to us by our maid when we got home for dinner today. I thought I’d have a heart attack when I heard it! The tension the suspense!  She started with “Diplo Dog got lost for 3 hours today…” EGAD!

When TD and I left the apartment this morning, there was a bit of a confusion and Diplo Dog ended up escaping and running around our floor! After we chased him around (me, TD, maid and roaming guard)  he was finally caught and the maid brought him in and TD and I proceeded to the elevator to get to the lobby.

Now this is when it gets funny/scary.

Where in the world is Diplo Dog?

Where in the world is Diplo Dog?

I was getting ready to go out one day and I was wondering where diplo dog was since he wasn’t in the room. He’s probably having an afternoon nap in “his room.” (We call the guest room/study his room because his favorite place to nap is underneath the pull-out.)

After a few minutes, I noticed something twitch on our bed…and guess what I saw???

Diplo Dog was right smack in the middle of our pillows! No wonder I didn’t see him at first glance around the room!!! LOL. He is not allowed on the bed because of my asthma and allergies, but he’s learned a nifty new trick of jumping onto the ottoman, then onto the bed.

How can I put him down??? He looked so cute and snug! (He loves nooks and crannies because he loves to snuggle and he really finds room corners to scootch into.) I didn’t have the heart to put him down especially after he have me his signature puppy-dog-eyes – or as our friend likes to call it his “Puss-in-Boots look.” LOL!

It really reminded me of "Where is Waldo" because he was camouflaged so well in the bed that if he didn't move a little I wouldn't have realized he was on the bed all along!

CAUGHT IN THE ACT!

Whenever we give Diplodog a treat for good behavior, he takes it and runs off as fast as his paws can take him to hide (under the table/couch) and enjoy it. As if he is scared it will be taken away from him! LOL!

We changed up Diplodog's treats - his new treats are thin long piece instead of the thick round ones before...

...at first he couldn't pick it up, but our smart doggie figured it out! He amazes me to no end!
