One thing that I haven’t been able to live without since getting posted to Jakarta is Allercon Dust Mite Spray. It is regularly sprayed on our bed every few days and I bring a small bottle of it whenever we travel because you never know which hotels have them, especially when we are on a budget trip.

As a diplomat’s wife, I attended many receptions and parties. There are many times when I have to bust out the Filipiniana gown or party dress which have to go with high heels. These receptions are usually cocktail style events with no seats and a few cocktail tables to place ones drinks on. By the end of the night my poor tootsies are hurting and I need to slip my shoes off. One of the things I noticed in the recent dinner party we hosted was that I didn’t know where to place the serving spoons while the lids on the different dishes were on (to keep them warm). I remembered the super cute serving spoon rest that my best friend had for her rice paddle or rice scoop. What a practical idea! The serving spoon rest kept food off the table, while allowing her to keep the rice covered so that it stays nice & piping hot (best way to have rice!).
