DIPLOdog ☆ My new Azkals Jersey
Hi everyone. Sorry if I haven’t been posting much lately. I’ve been busy with a “consultancy” job lately and two weeks in the Philippines so I’ve had to put the blogging, DiploDesserts (I take orders for banana bread and tiramisu cupcakes), and DiploShop on hiatus. It’s only until the 23rd of July. So thank you for your patience and I’ll be on my normal schedule of at least 3 posts a week after then. If you were like me last night, rooting for Germany in the Euro 2012 Semifinals against Italy, then Mario Balotelli must be in your s#$% list. However we have to give honor where it is due. The guys scored two goals in 16 minutes. WOW. The funny thing with Mario Balotelli is that as coordinated as he is with a football, he seems to have an ongoing battle against all other inanimate objects. Some videos of him battling with a BIB, struggling with a Christmas Cake and other pictures of his antics. This is my interpretation of his “WHY ALWAYS ME?” T-shirt – LOL!

Last night I tried to watch the Spain vs Portugal Semi-finals. It was really exciting despite being 0-0 for the entire game. The pace was so much faster than the boring game versus France. I guess both sides were pressuring the ball more, unlike how France just allowed Spain to keep on passing the ball ’round and ’round (boooooring!). Last nights game was so long that I passed out. They went on 30min overtime then finally to the super exciting penalties. (VIDEO of penalties after the jump!)

Azkals are back in Jakarta for the Sea Games!!
Today I met up with Ace Bright the super lovely coordinator for the Azkals or Philippine Men’s Football Team. I also met for the first time Ebong, the BlueHairedFan and energetic force behind the Kaholerso (the official booster squad of the Azkals).

I’m sure all of you have been seeing the photos of the new Folded & Hung endorser and beloved Azkals (Philippine Football Team) goalie, Neil Etheridge. It has many of us slightly shell shocked for sure. Yes he has recently developed the habit of removing his shirt after games and treating the crowd to an eyeful (too bad he didn’t start that habit during the Suzuki Cup where I watched him live here in Jakarta twice! OMG. I just had to repost this Dirty Tackle of the Day ! Here I was thinking that football games in Indonesia can become quite violent with the crowd (they had tanks and policemen in full battle gear during the Suzuki Cup game versus Malaysia), but never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine army having to fire their machine guns in the air just to stop football players from kicking each others butts! And even more unbelievable was that the violence continued even after the first set of warning shots fired. Video and story after the jump!

It’s been a while since I did a post on the Azkals and I saw these really fun pics of the Azkals during their team building in Cebu. I thought today would be a great day to post them, because even if I didn’t make it to Sri Lanka to watch their game last week (I was supposed to time my visit with my best friend there) nor can I watch tomorrow’s home game live, TD and I are totally thinking of them and hoping they win and move on to the next round! Sergio Ramos drops King’s Cup
Congratulations to Real Madrid for winning the Copa del Rey or King’s Cup! Unfortunately they lost to Barca in yesterday’s game. Gotta give it to Messi who to quote my friend @Carmencita “is a beast!” He score both points for Barca’s 2-0 first leg Champion’s League win.
