Renting in Jakarta

Renting in Jakarta

Renting in Jakarta was not easy for us. If you are coming to Jakarta as an expat and you have to look for your own place and negotiate with your landlord, without help from your company or embassy, you might encounter the same difficulties we had. Or you might not, I think it depends on what you are looking for and if you have a pet. This was our experience.

RESTO REVIEW – Beerdy Virtual Golf

RESTO REVIEW – Beerdy Virtual Golf

For golf-lovers out there who want to play golf while having drinks without having to go far, this restaurant is for you! The food is okay, and I liked their beer promos. I love the green interiors of the place and the use of beer bottles to decorate. Photos after the jump!

RESTO RAVE ❤ Favorite Fastfood Burger in Jakarta

RESTO RAVE ❤ Favorite Fastfood Burger in Jakarta

One of the things I’ll miss in Jakarta is my favorite fast food burger, the Mozza Burger from A&W. Whenever I need a quick bite to eat (so not a chillax Jakartan!) and there is an A&W around, I always order the same thing. The Mozza Burger Meal with curly fries and root beer. Find out why after the jump!

RESTO RAVE ❤ Korean Food at Chung Gi Wa Jakarta

RESTO RAVE ❤ Korean Food at Chung Gi Wa Jakarta

Another Jakarta favorite of ours is Chung Gi Wa Korean BBQ restaurant. The ingredients are fresh and the quality of the food is amazing, especially for the price. This is also great for pork-lovers like us, because the pork meat is way cheaper than beef! It’s great to eat here in a group, because its comes out cheap, even if you order beers. Ask the waitresses for what they recommend and they can help you out! The best thing is the staff cook the meat for you on your table. Service is fast and efficient. Reservation is a must, because this affordable place is always full. Also get ready to smell like BBQ after! Photos after the jump!

JAKARTA FINDS ✽ TD’s Antique Gun

JAKARTA FINDS ✽ TD’s Antique Gun

TD is a man of few things. He likes his electronics, but like most men, he doesn’t really do knick-knacks.  However he did want his own remembrance of Jakarta. We found this antique gun in Kemang Timur in a shop called Rambuata (I pass by it on the way to (and near) Koncept Kemang and Lio Gallery. It’s a very small shop with furniture piled up, out front.

RESTO RAVE ❤ Pandan Bistro Seafood Restaurant

Another good ol’ faithful for us when we are craving for seafood is Pandan Seafood Restaurant. It’s not super cheap, but not that expensive either and the food is always good, and we tend to eat a lot of rice when we are here hehe. I like the interiors as well.

RESTO RAVE ❤ Ramen Sanpachi 38 Gandaria

RESTO RAVE ❤ Ramen Sanpachi 38 Gandaria

I’ve written about Ramen Sanpachi or Ramen 38′s original location in Blok M which serves pork. We wanted to try their halal counterparts in the mall to see if it would be as yummy. This is a cheap eat in the mall, that is a better alternative to fast food burgers.

RESTO RAVE ❤ Sekitei Saturday Brunch

I have a new favorite brunch in Jakarta. It’s in my favorite Japanese Restaurant in town, Sekitei. Aside from the immense pleasure I get passing through the tree-line streets of Kebayoran Baru and going through the beautiful Dharmawangsa Hotel and Bimensena Club, high quality fresh Japanese food for Saturday brunch is just fabulous.

RESTO RAVE ❤ Pipiltin Cacao Chocolate Bar

Hello everyone! I am in the midst of a major move but I still wanna share some fabulous Jakarta/Indonesia finds, while I am at it! The posts might not be as text-heavy but hopefully the photos will entertain you! A friend of mine and fellow foodie, Emilie, recently took me to lunch and introduced me to a new place called Pipiltin Cacao. It’s the first ever chocolate “bean to bar” concept in Jakarta. It’s a definite must-try.

JAKARTA FINDS ✽ Hanidas Folding Mattress-Maker

JAKARTA FINDS ✽ Hanidas Folding Mattress-Maker

I finally got some guest mattresses made! The best thing about them is that they fold, for easy storage when they are not in use! I got the idea from my friend Lia, who has a few for when her kids want to sleep in the room with them. I don’t know why I waited so long to have them made.
