Coming from a province near the sea and enjoying freshly caught seafood my entire life, I am what you call a seafood snob. I’d rather eat something else if the seafood isn’t fresh. I barely ate seafood when I was in Manila, because despite being in an archipelago it was hard to find fresh and inexpensive seafood.

On my list of Must Do’s in Phuket is to buy lots and lots of cashews. Cashews are a famous local product of Phuket. I use them for making banana bread and pukkolla, instead of walnuts. Check out the cashew shopping we did and the factory store we bought them in after the jump.

Day 2: We woke up to another amazing, sunny day (despite the forecast of clouds and rainshowers..Yay!) and headed off to breakfast at Sala Restaurant. For dinner we decided to check out the Sala Restaurant, a recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2010. According to the itinerary of activities thoughtfully left in our room, the renowned resto held Thai Cultural Evenings on Fridays. The special grazing menu consisted of a tasting portions of authentic Thai dishes. Show time was from 7:30-9:15 pm.

They had several swings under pine trees all over the resort. We tried looking for one to enjoy the sunset in but everyone had the same idea - all of the beach front ones were taken! It would have been perfect with the lovely sea breeze.

After getting settled in our room and resting for a bit, we wandered around the resort, checking out the amenities and enjoying the sunset. I got to take some amazing photos!

All my friends know that my favorite color is white (technically it’s a non-color) paired with beige and neutrals. I love how serene and relaxed these colors make me feel. As you can see this room is heaven for me.

Lovely flower bracelets made with Sampaguita & orchid. Smelled soooo good! I wonder why we in the Philippines don't use the Sampaguita more, when it is actually native to us?
Upon arrival at the airport we were happy to find a kiosk for tourists giving out a map of Phuket, brochures and a free Thai SIM card. ) Yup, they were giving free True Move SIMs at the airport – so convenient!

One more week to go till our weekend vacay in Phuket! So coming up with a list of things to do! Please feel free to comment and tell me what for you are must-sees, must-try restos, must-buys, etc! Then will narrow it down to a realistic list (it’s only a weekend after all) and plan another trip to Phuket for the rest! (Hehe! Did you hear that hubby?)
- Go shopping for silver jewelry and cute fancy mirrors in Patong.. everything is in this huge mall. – Jana
- This is a must! Hong by Starlight - i truly enjoyed this ecotour activity
– Erwin - Bangla Road nightlife in Patong beach to see the ladyboys – our Thai friend said that the plastic surgery is so good you can’t really tell they’re boys! WHaaaat? This I must see!
- Buy and amulet in Phuket Town.
- Visit Saphan Hin Stadium to watch a Muay Thai match
- Visit the Wat Chalong, Phuket’s most important Buddhist temple and is the biggest and most ornate of Phuket’s 29 Buddhist monasteries, and have my fortune told
- Have a traditional Thai massage by the beach at the luxury boutique resort & spa we’re staying in.
- Watch the sunset from Cape Promthep, then dine on seafood at Kang Eng Restaurant in Chalong Bay
- Buy loads of cashew nuts – Don’t judge me! They’re super expensive here in Jakarta! =P
