Random thoughts on the Miss Universe Beauty pageant

BAD WRITING. I read this super funny post today entitled 10 Awkward Utterances During the Swimsuit Competition. Thank God I wasn’t the only one noticing the weirdness of the “corny skybox commentators Jeannie Mai and Shandi Finnessey.” My favorite ones are the top 3 commentator utterances:

Farewell FRIENDSTER!!!

Farewell FRIENDSTER!!!

I am tired of receiving Friendster updates every so often. I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S STILL ALIVE. So one last time I logged on to this relic of a social networking site and discovered that some people actually STILL update this site. Not to be trendy or anything, but SERIOUSLY??

WTH ➽ Baby Gaga ice cream made from human milk

WTH ➽ Baby Gaga ice cream made from human milk

What the heck? Was my first reaction to this! I’m sure it’s healthy but I’m not sure how I can get over the gross factor. Is it possible to have so much breastmilk that you have extra to sell? I have no idea…but from the few moms I’ve talked to they have a hard time meeting the supply that their babies need as it is. Hmmm… I hope that the women are not using up their breastmilk for this instead of their babies.  Thoughts anyone?  Article after the jump!

Reblog: Sleep Elevations

Reblog: Sleep Elevations

Something about these photos draw me to them. I just had to reblog. Maybe because I have insomnia and getting that “lift” is what I’ve been needing the past couple of days (yesterday I couldn’t fall asleep until 5pam!). Perhaps I should just envision myself being taken away by a cotton ball  or a balloon?

VIDEO: Manny Pacquiao’s LA home on MTV Cribs

I love the clean lines and that it is not too ostentatious like the other celebrity homes (I’m talking about you Kimora Lee!). It was done so tastefully with a mix of modern and some natural materials! I wonder who their interior designer was? Video after the jump.

Tomorrow….

…I will write about my long but wonderful day yesterday – the pre-game  ”pep rally,” going into the stadium, watching it and the sad but proud defeat. It was bittersweet, because not all of the experiences were positive. But it was nonetheless the experience of a lifetime – because we were at the right time, right place and pinoys are the nicest people!

Today I’m going to rest. I am exhausted from all the excitement and my brain doesn’t wanna work. And I am slightly sad too – it’s the natural crash after such a wonderful high of the Philippine vs Indonesia Suzuki Cup Semi-finals.

Just want to say, have a safe trip home National Football Team of the Philippines and their contingent! And thanks Azkals for the signed Jersey and the nice messages on my photo album of our lunch!

Thoughts & favorite quotes from Eat Pray Love

Thoughts & favorite quotes from Eat Pray Love

It took me a long time to finish this book. In fact I stopped reading it while I was halfway through Book 1/Italy/”Say It Like You Eat It” because for some reason it just didn’t call to me. Or perhaps it was too difficult to read because I myself was gaining all that weight but didn’t have the fabulous excuse of an Italian adventure, but rather just the lousy excuse of enjoying being a couch potato after being such a “Type A” personality all my life. Or her agony/suffering/darkness in the beginning may have reminded me of those dark years of my life which, though I have surpassed and has made me into the person I am today, still squeezes my heart in pain & knocks the air out of me whenever I remember how it felt to be in that darkness. But basically I read this book very slow because all throughout I also needed to reflect on my own existential crises.

What made me continue?

Sorry for the silence

Yes this housewife has been quite busy this last week! I finally feel like myself: productive and perpetually attempting to organize my life! Ever since my 2-week flu (I even thought it was Dengue!) last May I’ve been lethargic and pretty down. But this week I’ve felt more energized and like my usual to-do-list-toting self again. =P

Just to update you, since my last post I’ve been occupied with…

  • Battling my breakout Yes it’s that time again. It takes a lot of effort to bring back my skin it’s glow. GRRRRR! Out damned spot!
  • Girlfriend brunches Harvey Nichols sale anyone? Insane 80% off branded items that got us girls all hot & bothered – we had a hard time getting everyone to quit shopping and eat =P
  • Dinner with a new cool diplo couple we met
  • Awesome BBQ day at the Cs
  • Home reorganization projects Thanks to Muji!
  • New ottomans & waterproofing upholstery Ottomans from Ideko & Muji
  • Gardening I haven’t done this in a long time so it’s good to be back at it! Hope I can save the sickly Hydrangea plants =(
  • The new sewing machine Best thing EVER
  • And World Cup 2010! Yes life stops in our household for FIFA. Games are at 6:30pm, 9pm & 130am! And we stay up till 3am to watch important games. So my body clock’s been messed up again lately. But who cares? It’s only once every 4 yrs! VIVA ESPAÑAAAA!
