Resto Rave: Birdcage Restaurant and Bar
After the disappointing dinner at the Cheese Cake Factory, we were eager to end the night in a nice place with a few drinks – the perfect way to celebrate the week’s end. Another place we wanted to try on the Gourmet Jakarta magazine was Birdcage. We were looking for along a tree line street in Kebayoran Baru when I saw it, and I said “There it is!” and my husband, who I guess was looking another way, said “How do you know it’s the one?”

This is an amusing video of Puyol and Cesc relaxing and having beers in the stadium 2hours after winning the World Cup 2010 finals match.
They sit on the bench and are such great sports when the fans come and talk to them. As the video cam pans out at 0:43 you’ll realize that their relaxing session has turned into a “class photo” with so many fans beside them getting pics taken. Hahaha! Puyol is even game to join in on the photo session of Cesc. And the vid end with a fan who wont let go of his arms around Cesc! Funny!

The Filipiniana gown that made me feel like a wedding cake
Attended our National Independence Day reception last week with my biggest Filipiniana gown (the hubby told me to save my most “bongga” one for this occasion). I was massive – making it a feat to get in and out of the car. And this time we were sure to call for a Silver Bird cab (usually a Mercedes Benz) to take us to the venue so there was plenty of space for me and my dress. I can’t imagine fitting in a Blue Bird in this one – the Vios would be too small.

We almost cancelled drinks because it was raining too hard, but when it finally died down a bit, we decided to hit The Distillery. Precisely because of the rain, we were lucky enough to have tables in the small bar (only 1 long table with bar stools on the 1st floor & about 3 small tables and 2 bigger tables on the 2nd floor). In the past we usually get tables by arriving at 4:30pm before the Fort crowd manages to get out of work!

Last Thursday I met up with my close friends, Mr. & Mrs. K. I was dead tired and I asked them if they would like to eat at nearby Apartment 1B (Great White Toblerone Cheesecake!). I was too tired to drive and I intended to walk to the resto instead (wishful thinking). When we got to Apartment 1B, they mentioned that it was Margarita Madness month at Chili’s! They just didn’t say anything because they thought I would be too tired to drink. Hello?!?! Too tired to walk, yes. Too tired to drink? Never!

Tired but happy with the sourcing and outlet shopping we’ve done for the day, we asked driver where we could eat in Jimbaran Bay. We had to cancel our plans to see the sunset at Tanah Lot. We, or rather I, finished outlet shopping at 4pm already and seeing the traffic on Jalan Ngurah Rai we would just have wasted our time because there was no way we were going to make it. And the driver said there is nothing to see there after sunset.
