PARTY ON ❊ Jakarta Holidaze 2012
I’ve been in this holiDAZE and so out of it lately! After December 23 I went on hyper-mode and had to whip up something for Christmas and New Year. One of the things about Diplo-life is holidays spent abroad away from family. Usually spending it in the Philippines automatically gives the holidays structure for us. Last last year we had Christmas Eve Noche Buena with TD’s family in Manila and then traveled on December 25 to spend Christmas Day with my family in Mindanao. Since we were left in Jakarta this year, we had to create our own celebrations with friends who didn’t end up going home either… even our non-Catholic friends celebrated with us! Thank you! There were many get-togethers and tons of food with Jakarta friends old and new! After the jump is a photoblog of what we did over the holiDAZE!
CHRISTMAS. It’s more fun in the Philppines
Christmas has always been kinda over the top for the majority-Catholic nation of the Philippines. And we go all sorts of crazy for it. I think this meme says it all. LOL. Photo after the jump!

Sorry guys this is a long overdue post. Last year was our first time we spend Christmas in Jakarta and I had to buy more decor for the Christmas dinner we were hosting. From my earlier posts, you can tell I love gold so to keep with the theme of my home (white, natural wood with gold and capiz accents) I decided it would be a GOLD Christmas in our DiploHome – or until I change my mind anyway. =P So this year I only had to make a few improvements on last year’s decor. Check out what I added after the jump!

Catching up after pre-Christmas eve dinner
As a rule I don’t celebrate Valentines on the day itself. I am all for celebrating love but in the Philippines Valentines has become so commercialized that it’s crazy. I am in Marketing by profession and I know how much brands/companies try their damnedest to capitalized on Valentines so people spend their hard-earned cash.

Okay I just realized that I didn’t even put up any posts on how we spent Christmas Day and New Years Eve! Somehow it got buried in all the other pictures I had and I never got to post them. Since my blog is my online journal, I am not doing a great job at journaling the holidays am I if I don’t put it up before January ends! So here goes!

Remember our secret compartment for charging station & storage (on top of TD’s shoe compartment in our mega-console)?
For Christmas I gave TD a universal charging station that fit perfectly in the hidden compartment! Here’s a picture of it in action!
You can see how awesome it is in the video below.
In fact, this BlueLounge product has won several international design awards. It’s not only functional (can charge up to 1500 different gadgets) but it also looks aesthetic!
JAKARTA FINDS ✽ Christmas Goodies
This year we received such cute Christmas Goodies from friends that are obviously more in the know than we are. I wanna share them with you and also have something to look back on next Christmas when I need ideas for giveaways and gifts! Pictures and details after the jump!

This is our first official party in our home. Previously we tried not to have more than 2 or 3 people at a time since we didn’t have the necessary furniture yet. However Christmas is a big thing for us Filipinos – normally it is celebrated not just with immediate family but also extended family (or in my case with our clan) plus friends. So we are used to massive parties. Most of our friends went home to the Philippines to celebrate Christmas but this year it’s my hubby’s turn to stay in Jakarta so we decided to host a Christmas Eve party – even if we don’t have our buffet table yet.

After my first EVER promo giveaway for readers in the US and Canada, many of my friends from the Philippines were saying they wished it was open to folks back home in Manila.
Finally I’ve a promo for peeps in the Philippines thanks to the amazing people from QUIRKS Novelties & Curiosities! Weeeeeee!
You know how much I love quirks and novelty items – not only for my home (Just like my TeaCupCakes and Tipsy Toes Re-freezable Ice!) but to give out as gifts as well! So this Christmas I am giving away something from QUIRKS Novelties & Curiosities to one lucky reader!
QUIRKS Novelties & Curiosities is one of my favorite stores in Manila. In fact I make sure to drop by their store whenever I am home! Here are some items I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to find underneath the Christmas tree! =)

I'd love to get 2 of these! This would be the perfect key chain. I'd place the socket by the door so I never have to go searching for my keys again.

If I got this Apron Guide, then I would never have to type on my laptop with sticky baking hands for conversions!
