I thought I had already posted on my beloved DIY photowall, but apparently it got buried in my massive amount of photos. I realized that I didn’t have a lot of photos in my home and as part of my Happiness Project, I decided to do a photowall projects. Projects, though it may take time and effort increase happiness in the home. (I’m over simplifying it but Gretchen Rubin explains it in her book, The Happiness Project.)

While we were on holiday, they tried to kick DiploDog out of the building. It’s quite unfair because the policy is “no PETS allowed.” Those who have cats though freely flaunt them – I’ve even seen one tenant go up and down the elevator with his cat on his shoulder. So it is really only with dogs that the policy is implemented because Muslim tenants complain about them. To work around this we settled on an arrangement to cover up DiploDog completely every time he is brought down for a walk. This seems fair to me since, it is showing respect for our Muslim neighbors (Dog saliva is considered “haram” or unclean) so I immediately set out to make a bag liner for DiploDog’s bag made out of cheap canvas cloth from Majestic Market.

It’s simple, gold and white and is SO totally me! It adds to the warmth of our off white room, and in the morning it magnifies the feeling of the sun shining down on me through our massive bedroom windows! How I ended up doing it after the jump!

You can tell via my posts on furniture and decor that I love Interior Design. I’ve always wanted to learn how to do a floor plan so that I can make sure that everything fits in a room, and I can visualize where everything will go before I start purchasing things. I thought I would have to take a special course on it, but guess what?!? Apple made an app (for iPhone4/iPad) that allows you to create a professional floor plan in seconds! (30 seconds per room to be exact!) The BEST thing about it is its FREE!!

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post (my first post in almost 2 weeks!) I kept busy while I was sick in bed and couldn’t access my blog, by crocheting. I know it’s so lola (grandma) but I have an entire box of thread left over from maybe a decade ago (If I recall correctly, it is from my friendship bracelet and hair wrapping phase in college). Yes it’s still alive and in good quality since I am a master pack rat – LOL!

My hubby is a simple guy with few and basic belongings. When we moved to Jakarta most of the shipment was mine (about 90%). So it’s not that hard to clean up after him. Except for his work stuff. He brings a lot of work home and goes to many conferences and meetings. Which means tons of documentation papers and also tons of IDs, which he likes to keep as souvenirs. They have been all over the place – some in the office, some here and others hanging there. They really are quite an eyesore! Gaah! So we gathered what was here at home in one of my endless containers and it looked like this.

Since I love taking pictures I end up taking lots when we have get togethers and I offer to give my friends high resolution copies of the pictures so they can print it out. Recently we had a playdate. I love that my friends invite me even if I don’t have a baby and it’s so much fun and educational for me to hang out with them and their babies! And I end up taking a gazillion pictures of so many precious moments! Normally I would just save it in a USB or CD and hand it over in a sleeve or envelop.

After a year of looking for art, and a wild goose chase for a “mythical” art gallery in Jogja, we finally had our Sutrisno paintings in hand at the airport on our way back to Jakarta. We hand-carried the small one in its frame & the bigger one rolled up, with the frame checked in. Why should I leave the bigger frame and pay someone to do it for me, when I can frame it myself?
