When I ordered my massive L-shaped buffet I made a mistake and didn’t specify the color and my furniture maker assumed that I would like to match it to my dining set. Unfortunately this tiny but significant detail was overlooked with the amount of details and work that was put into my highly customized buffet. It’s was a massive and astounding project. However I have light colored walls and the dark colored big piece of furniture made my dining area look smaller. So to resolve the visual space issue I decided to put mirrors – mounted to the wall above and behind the buffet.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to do a floor plan so that I can make sure that everything fits in a room, and I can visualize where everything will go before I start purchasing things. I thought I would have to take a special course on it, but guess what?!? Apple made an app (for iPhone4/iPad) that allows you to create a professional floor plan in seconds! (30 seconds per room to be exact!) The BEST thing about it is its FREE!!

After taking advantage of the massive Aksara Bookstore sale last month we can now safely say that we NEED bookshelves. Since my priority right now is the monstrous L-shaped buffet table/china cabinet, then the liquor cabinet I am thinking of ordering vertical bookshelves first as a quick short-term solution. Then when we are able to save up for it, I want to have floor to ceiling modular bookshelves. Here are some design inspirations I found on the net. Pictures after the jump!

I’ve been a bit worried about my living area because I noticed that all the elements are rectangular or square. One thing I learned from my interior designers K+M while decorating our flat in Manila is that I can’t have too many square/rectangular elements in an area. DIPLO DECOR ♖ Chic Mart home & decor finds!
I love, love, love Chic Mart. I discovered it because I was looking for a bamboo ladder (to use for placing extra towels in our bathrooms) and our friends had the exact one I was looking for. They said they got it in Chic Mart ….and voila! I got my ladders! At super great prices by the way. 
Interior Design inspirations… From Manila flat to Jakarta Apartment!
TD has been bugging me to order more furniture. However being the anal obsessive compulsive person that I am, I want to design furniture that is double/triple purpose with a lot of storage to maximize our small apartment. This requires a lot of research, imagination and some technical knowledge (i.e. kinds of hinges to use, thickness of the wood to support X amount of Kilos, structural integrity of the design, etc.)
