BAKING IN THE OVEN ♨ Mad Hungry for Apple Crisps
As promised, here’s the recipe for the apple crisp that was baking in the oven last weekend! I got this recipe from this AMAZING BOOK called MAD Hungry: Feeding Men & Boys. I first had this faux apple pie at my cousin’s home – his wife Jackie is an amazing cook! I also had rice crispy bars and banana bread there and I was asking her for the recipe. She said she got all the recipes from ONE book! Whoa. I had to have this book. It was too heavy for me to bring to Jakarta but when I looked around in the English bookstores here (yes not all bookstores have English books) I couldn’t find it! GASP!

But the problem I had with mine is it would not stick properly onto the laptop any more because the “hairs” of the “velcro” were all messed up already. (see picture below – Left). After a morning at the gardening shop and the ceramic outlet store the girls and I deserved a treat! So we had lunch at KOI Kemang which is a favorite spot in Kemang. They are known for their Brunch menu (I personally prefer Social House for brunch) but we decided to try their regular lunch menu. All 3 of the girls ordered the Angus Roast Beef with Truffled Pudding which was excellent. I must bring TD (The Diplomat) here so he can try it! That Truffled pudding is amazing!

Not only is it a compilation of almost all ABSOLUT ads (if not all) that were ever released in print but it also tells the journey of a brand from being an unknown vodka (in the past Russian Vodkas ruled) to the most famous vodka in the world! And what a story it is!

After we arrived and settled in our hotel, it was way past lunch and we were ravenous. I get grumpy when I am hungry so instead of making me walk for food, TD suggested we try one of the restos in the hotel. Since Nikko is a Japanese hotel we figured their Japanese resto would be very good. I was all for it – besides I love Japanese food! We were so hungry we didn’t even take note of the name of the resto! =P

I usually get a pedicure before I go on a trip but since I was sick prior to leaving for Jogja, I didn’t get to. Ack. And my polish was peeling off. I should have at least taken off the polish before I left. I guess I really wasn’t feeling well because it didn’t even occur to me to do so. So when I arrived in Yogya it was a choice of looking for a salon (but I am not guaranteed of how clean the utensils will be) or paying big bucks at the hotel spa. Better to be safe than sorry (with a toe infection!) so I decided on the 75minute Spa Pedicure (Rp 290,000) at My Spa of Phoenix hotel. Normally I wouldn’t pay that much but with the massage and mask I consoled myself that it was value for money. Was it worth it? Read on!
