NEW TV SHOWS: Sirens, FWB and Strike Back
Hey there folks! While watching for all the TV show to start in the next couple of days, let me share with you some new shows I’m watching in the meantime. It feels like a British invasion, because 3 out of 4 is from the UK.

Dashing lawyers in fantastic suits. Enough said. Okay okay, I guess I have to say a little more about the show to get you guys to check it out…

Just watched 3 episodes of this new show. I was hesitant at first to even check it out, because…well… it’s an MTV show! I didn’t like the US versions of Skins (the British version is brilliant in a psychedelic, beautiful sorta way) and shows like 16 and Pregnant (The trailers alone are horrible) and Jersey Shore *shudder*, I thought nothing good could come of it. But I was happily surprised by Awkward.

NEW TV SHOW: The Voice
Yes American Idol, there’s a new kid in town and for the first time (in my humble opinion), there is a talent show that I can see becoming as big as the talent show behemoth AI. Note though that this are just my thoughts after watching the first episode and that things can totally change throughout the season.

I’m into episode 7 of Mad Love and I still can’t shake of the feeling of de ja vu whenever I watch it.

Last Sunday while recovering from The Jet Black Lounge party (something that deserves a separate post) TD and I spent the day vegging – popcorn + this new TV show which TD introduced me to called TRAFFIC LIGHT.

Better With You (Series Premiere, September 22, 8:30 p.m.)
About the stories of 3 related couples: Mia and Casey who have known each other for 7 weeks but are about to get married, Mia’s sister Maddie and her live in partner Ben (together 9 years), and Mia and Maddie’s parents, Joel and Vicky (married 35 years). A humorous look into the lives of couples in different stages of their relationships, that I think many married couples can relate to.
Okay I’ve to admit I wasn’t so enamored with this show on the first 2 episodes, but after watching it with my husband it’s grown on me. I realize that there are just some shows that I enjoy more and find funnier when I watch it with my husband (i.e. Modern Family) and I think it’s the family shows because watching it with him is like sharing a private joke. We can relate and we’re laughing not only at the show but at our own shared memories.

Joanna Garcia, on the short-lived Privileged
You’ll see many familiar faces on Better with You as well. I love super cute Joanna Garcia (Mia), who was the lead in Privileged (I still can’t believe that show was cancelled – so sad to see the gorgeous girls go). Debra Jo Rupp (Vicky) who is best known as Kitty in That ’70s Show. Josh Cooke (Ben) was the groom in the ill-fated TV Show, Big Day (which I think is funnier than Better With You – but really had no chance of having more than one season because what will season 2 be about? The day after the Big Day??). And of course, who doesn’t know Kurt Fuller (Joel)?

New TV show: Raising Hope

Raising Hope (Series Premiere, September 21, 8 p.m.)
The verdict?
I’m loving this comedy! It’s a bit on the darker side, but it’s so silly and out of this world that it’s hilarious. The first episode sets everything up perfectly without feeling rushed. I love the quirky, loser family with the immature dad, street-smart badass mom (TV bashing anyone?), party boy cousin (strobe pacifier FTW!) and Jimmy who wants to change the downward slope of his existence by taking care of his baby. Funny, sweet and nostalgic at the same time, this “super-flawed family” has me hooked on Raising Hope!

New TV show: Wild for Running Wilde!

(image: Running Wilde / Fox)
Running Wilde (Series Premiere, September 21, 9:30 p.m.)
Beverly Hills jackass (Will Arnett) falls in love with tree-hugger, Emmy Kadubic (Keri Russell). Lifestyles and moral codes collide. I am very excited about this show! I love Will Arnett!
The verdict?
I love, love this show. I might be biased though because I adore Will Arnett. Everything he does is hilarious. The first two episode were great beginnings and I can see the writing improve, the way Community did in its first season. I hear that there is a possibility that this might get cancelled because of low ratings. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? People in the U.S. please watch and support this show!!!

Mike and Molly (Series Premiere, September 20, 9:30 p.m.)
CBS sitcom about 2 obese people who meet in Overeaters Anonymous and become a pair. Not sure how much I’m going to like this one because it’s by the same creator of The Big Bang Theory and Two and Half Men which is just not my type of humor but will check it out. Stay tuned for my thoughts on it.
The verdict?
Watched the series premier 2 weeks ago and my initial thoughts were right. Totally not my kind of humor. I sat through the entire thing without laughing once! What a waste of my time. I’m never watching this show again.
But for those of you who find Two and a Half Men funny, then this is probably your cup of tea.

…and some new ones I wanna check out. We’re allowed to be pickier this time of the year because there is no shortage of good TV shows.
Mondays
Inbetweeners (Season 3 premiere, Sept 13)
A BAFTA award-winning British sitcom which has aired since 2008…the show follows the life of suburban teenager Will (Simon Bird), and three of his friends at the fictional school, Rudge Park Comprehensive. Basically about a group of boys who are neither the popular kids at school nor the losers, hence the term inbetweeners. Funny cringe-worthy moments that highlight the awkwardness of youth. I enjoy watching this with my husband… somehow it’s funnier with him.
How I Met Your Mother (Season 6 premiere, Sept 20)

Not a very good image of Robbin who is usually the prettier one
My favorite TV show as of the moment. And yes, Barney = all-time fave TV character! Responsible for so many unforgettable quotes and concepts such as “Suit up!”, The Lemon Law, ”It’s gonna be legen – WAIT FOR IT – dary!” and “Think of me like Yoda, but instead of being little and green I wear suits and I’m awesome. I’m your bro—I’m Broda!”
